The ATMOsphere Review Panel has selected the first round of CO2 case studies, from Emerson, Epta, Mayekawa and Panasonic, to be presented at ATMOsphere Asia 2017.

Four case studies have been selected for presentation at the upcoming edition of ATMOsphere Asia, which takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, on 6 September. The conference is perfectly timed, taking place a day before the Bangkok RHVAC trade show (7-9 September), which ranks among the world’s best HVAC&R exhibitions and is the second largest in the Asia Pacific region.

The improved programme sees participants explore the latest developments and case studies from industrial refrigeration, commercial and light refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps, as well as training and standards for natural refrigerants.

The presentations are:

Emerson | Emerson's natural refrigerant-based solutions for developing markets in Asia by Abel Gnanakumar

This presentation will showcase how the company supported an end user commissioning and building a new store using subcritical CO2 technology in China. The presentation will showcase how this model can be used in 'less experienced' and newly developing markets in Asia. The company will also talk about its other natural refrigerant-based installations like its ice plants in Thailand using ammonia and hydrocarbon testing in China.

Epta | CO2 FTE transcritical technology performance vs. previous solutions in real store conditions by Francesco Mastrapasqua

This case study will present an in-depth analysis of the energy efficiency and operational benefits of CO2 transcritical FTE system in very warm ambient conditions, with best-in-class examples. Extensive data will be presented to reason for increased usage of CO2 refrigeration systems in any climatic conditions and any store format, combining installation and operational costs, lifecycle costs, energy savings and reliability, a significant contribution to making CO2 natural refrigerant the new technological standard in Asia.

Mayekawa | Latest NH3 and CO2 technology in industrial sectors in Japan and South East Asia by Kosuke Yamamoto

This presentation will include two case studies. The first case study will present the great potential of CO2 heat pump systems for the food and beverage sectors, which reduce electricity usage and CO2 emissions by lowering fuel consumption of boilers. The second case study will talk about a new NH3/CO2 circulation system, proven to be one of the most efficient refrigeration systems in Japan for industrial cold stores, and showcase real energy consumption data to prove its efficiency and other advantages. Kosuke Yamamoto will present case studies from Japan and talk about the first installations in Thailand.

Panasonic | CO2 refrigeration system – Case studies from Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan by Hidekazu Tachibana

This presentation will introduce Panasonic CO2 refrigeration systems in supermarkets and convenience stores in Southeast Asia and Japan. Hidekazu Tachibana will talk about the company's latest CO2 technology, its feasibility, and energy efficiency results in the region. Also showcased in detail will be the company's first and very recent CO2 installation in supermarket in Malaysia.
