Hillphoenix receives highest honours at GreenChill awards ceremony

Hillphoenix has earned its fifth EPA GreenChill award, and is the only non-grocery store to receive a GreenChill Store Certification Excellence award for a third straight year.

Announced at the FMI Energy and Store Development Conference on 29 September in San Diego, GreenChill highlights organisations doing the most to reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change.

GreenChill awarded two store certification excellence honours: one to the supermarket company with the most GreenChill Store certifications and one to the systems manufacturer with the most GreenChill store certifications, each in the past year. Sprouts received recognition for having 42 store certifications, and Hillphoenix was acknowledged for its 101 store certifications, including several installations for major food retailers like Whole Foods, Sprouts and Kroger.

“Our environmental improvements — both in alternative refrigerants and energy efficiency — have helped remove over two billion pounds (900 million kg) of harmful emissions from the atmosphere since 1996.

“Alongside organisations like GreenChill, we will continue to provide the much needed education and training necessary to help our industry move toward more widespread use of natural refrigeration systems.”

The southern-most CO₂ transcritcal store in the United States, a Sprouts Farmers Market in Dunwoody, Georgia, for which Hillphoenix provided the system, received the GreenChill ‘Best of the Best’ award for demonstrating an innovative aspect of an advanced refrigeration technology.
