Over 100 organisations from across Europe have already registered to discuss “Natural Refrigerants - Solutions for Europe” at the
ATMOsphere Europe 2012 conference taking place from 6-7 November in Brussels.
Receive firsthand information on the F-Gas proposal from the European Commission
With the new F-Gas proposal likely to come out shortly before the conference, high-level speakers from the European Commission will share the latest developments and first possible insights of the new proposal.
Other speakers like national experts from Germany, Denmark and Switzerland will also share their expectations of and possible first reactions to the proposal that could be a game changer for the natural refrigerant industry. The discussion will then continued in the afternoon, when key stakeholders, like the NGOs (EIA, EEB), industry associations (EPEE, EHPA) and researchers (Öko-Recherche, Re-phridge) present and debate the topic from their point of view.
Coca-Cola, Unilever, PepsiCo and Red Bull showcasing CO2 and hydrocarbon cooling equipment
With PepsiCo having installed over 147,000 HFC-free units globally by the end of 2011 and Coca-Cola over 600,000 HFC-free units in over 76 countries, the prominent consumer brands will discuss results of the equipment in use as well as future plans during a second end-user panel. The Coca-Cola Company, Unilever and McDonald's launched, in 2004, the ‘Refrigerants, Naturally!’ initiative.
Later joined by PepsiCo and Red Bull, the successful initiative will get a dedicated session at
ATMOsphere Europe 2012. Representatives from Coca-Cola, Unilever and Red Bull, together with UNEP and Greenpeace, will discuss latest developments, and conference participants will be able to test how the CO
2 and hydrocarbon equipment work first hand as several cabinets will be showcased and in use on site.
European supermarket increase implementation of CO2 systems
The second end user panel, focused on food retail, promises to be very exciting with a long list of retailers from all across Europe presenting their latest projects and future plans as regards natural refrigerant system roll-outs. Robert Arthur who recently retired from Marks & Spencer will be moderating and challenging the panellists with targeted questions. Overview of the panel:
- John Skelton, Sainsbury's Supermarkets Limited
- Jean-Michel Fleury, Carrefour
- Philippe H. Heymans, Delhaize Europe
- Emma Coles, Royal Ahold Group
- Dr Georg Weinhofer, COOP Switzerland
- Knut Lutnæs, COOP Norway
- Moderator: Robert Arthur, bolyn ltd., formerly Marks & Spencer
In addition, Jean-Michel Fleury from Carrefour will be a speaker at the Tuesday night dinner.
CO2 for MAC, a 100kW CO2 compressor and CO2 for space heating
Technology case study presentations will be dedicated to CO
2 system improvements for warm climates, heat recovery with CO
2 systems, CO
2 space heating heat pumps or CO
2 for transport refrigeration, to name a few examples.
This year the conference will also feature a session on market innovations to complement presentations regarding already installed projects. This session will discuss innovative CO
2 prototypes, as well as non-technical type of innovations. The session includes:
- Jan Hinrichs, Ixetic: CO2 compressors for mobile air conditioning and light commercial
- Christian Schmälzle, Obrist: 100 kW CO2 Compressor for Commercial Refrigeration
- Marion Geiss, GIZ Proklima: Technology cooperation for green cooling
- Marc Chasserot, shecco: How to make the world's largest online community for natural refrigerants work for you
