Based on its experience with fluorocarbon fluids Castel, Italian manufacturer of air-conditioning and refrigeration components, has developed a new range of filter driers with replaceable solid core specifically designed and tested to operate on systems that use carbon dioxide. These new filters types are suitable for application in sub-critical cycles or at a maximum working pressures of 62 bars.
Castel’s filter driers aim at improving filtering of the refrigerant on the low-pressure side of the system to ensure the best protection possible to the compressor. System cleanliness is ensured by micro filtering cores, which filter out impurities derived from the manufacture and assembly of the refrigerating system.

44 type filters’ basic technical specifications
- Maximum working pressure (PS) 62 bars
- Steel body and steel solder connections (steel bar EN 10025 S355JR)
- CE approved and stamped
- Filters type 4420 include zinc plated wire cloths and a filtering baffle form the block, which features a large surface, with controlled porosity. The block can stop solid particles up to 20 microns. At the two ends, soft felt gaskets ensure perfect sealing with the plastic cups.
- Filters 4411 and 4421, with “C” suffix, are equipped with a 1/4” taper threaded cover connection (NPT) and access fitting with valve core G9150/R05.
