Coming soon: Kavlico R744 Pressure & Temperature sensor

By R744.com team, Jul 17, 2008, 13:12 2 minute reading

Kavlico, a leading manufacturer of specialty sensors, has developed a low-cost sensor for CO2 car air conditioning. The sensor, based on an innovative thin film technology, will soon be added to the R744.com product database.

The combined pressure and temperature sensor without external temperature probe is optimised for the high demands on CO2 Mobile Air Conditioning. Featuring a robust hermetically sealed stainless housing, the sensor measures high operating pressures of 150 bar. Its sense element is based on Kavlico’s patented TiON (Titanium OxyNitride) thin film technology, capable of covering a media temperature range of -40°C to +180°C. Moreover, the product tolerates high vibration levels while being significantly reduced in size and weight.
Kavlico’s development of R744 components started with the first testing of CO2 systems when the company provided pressure transducers for test benches and vehicles. Since then, Kavlico has worked on optimizing prototypes of a new combined pressure sensor technology, enhancing its design and accuracy. Today, its PT sensor features long-term stability and an innovative integrated temperature pick-up to reduce the risk of medium leakage.

“Building on our experience with the innovative TiON thin film technology, we can now present the smallest possible sensor to measure temperature pressure in next-generation CO2 air conditioning. The PT sensor is an important part of this newly-created market and fits perfectly into our “green” initiative,” says Markus Butenop, Director of Sales Kavlico GmbH.

“R744.com as the specialized source for CO2 Technology is the right place to showcase our new product to a worldwide audience,” he adds.
