New logo to promote 5.2 million EcoCute units by 2010

The Electric Business Alliance, the Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA), and the Heat Pump & Thermal Storage Technology Center revealed their new logo "5,200,000 Ecocute installations by 2010" at a kick-off meeting on 7 November. Celebrating at the same day the first million EcoCute units sold in Japan so far, experts said that if domestic air-conditioning, heating and hot water units were replaced by heat pump units, CO2 emissions would be reduced by 1 million ton per year – more than the target set by the Kyoto Protocol. According to "Denpa Shimbun", a wide-spread use of CO2 heat pumps is thus a main pillar of governmental and business action against rising emissions.

TEPCO develops mobile phone control for Ecocute units

Tokyo Electric Power Company has developed "Rimoco", a remote control system for home appliances via mobile phone. According to "Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Tokyo", a new all electrified flat to be completed in February 2008 will feature the system run by Tepco Systems. The product ensures a control of the air-conditioning system and Eco-Cute units by mobile phone via the internet to increase customer convenience. The system can be extended to a floor heating system.

Inaba Electronics Industries will launch Eco-Cute plumbing system

The “eco iina” plumbing system comprises products especially designed for EcoCute units, including plumbing pipes between the heat pump unit and the water tank, connectors and insulation covers. According to “Kucho Times”, they are reinforced with metal to withstand high temperature, being at the same time easy to bend.

Innovation awards for heat pumps At the 9th Fukuoka Industry Design Award ceremony, the company Showa Tekko's was awarded for its “Showa Industrial Ecocute”. As reported by "Kyuken Nippo", the CO2 heat pump hot water unit is suitable for medium to large scale water supply at hotels, nursing homes, hospitals or restaurants. On 9 November, Corona, one of biggest player in the Ecocute market, received 3 awards from the Innovation Association for its multi-function heat pump hot water unit.

Concept house with EcoCute attracts attention at consumers fair

Tohoku Electric Power Company held its "Ecocute Will Change Your Life – Comfortable Life All Electrifying Exhibition" on 3-4 November. More than 800 visitors could experience an all electrified house equipped with a CO2 heat pump system that had been created in the middle of the exhibition.
