The 16th edition of the Seafood Processing Global exhibition held on 6-8 May 2014 in Brussels, Belgium, offered a platform for equipment manufacturers to showcase their latest refrigeration, freezing and processing products. R744.com was at the exhibition to report about latest developments for CO2 equipment designed for seafood industry.

The Seafood Processing Global trade fair is part of the world’s largest seafood trade event that gathers the seafood industry’s decision-makers and purchasers from around the world. This years event attracted over 1,690 exhibitors from 76 countries, and more than 25,800 visitors from over 145 countries.

One of the exhibition’s halls was dedicated to showcasing fish processing, seafood refrigeration and freezing equipment. The following companies were presenting or exhibiting products using CO2 refrigerant:

ZIEGRA: ZIEGRA, the German ice machine manufacturer promoted its line of CO2 ice makers and showcased its new hydrocarbon-based ice machine designed for smaller applications. ZIEGRA’s CO2 ice makers are suitable for linking to a central refrigeration plant with direct evaporation (subcritical) as well as for pumped systems. The daily chip ice capacity of its products ranges between 350kg to 1,200kg in the case of direct evaporation and between 1,750kg to 10,000kg for pump operation.

Ice Engineering: Headquartered in Italy, Ice Engineering presented its portfolio of split system scale ice machines, for connection to a refrigeration system, available with CO2 refrigerant. The ice machines are resistant to a high pressure evaporator, have low refrigerant volume and offer an easy access to internal parts for cleaning and sanitising. Some of the key features include the possibility to produce different scale sizes of ice simultaneously and adjust the thickness by the operator. With the cooling capacities ranging between 1,500 to 15,000W, Ice Engineering’s ice makers produce 300-3,000 kg of ice per day.

Dalian Bingshan: Besides the products designed to work with ammonia, the Chinese refrigeration system manufacturer presented at its booth products using CO2 for fish freezing, such as single and dual stage screw compressors, piston compressors, as well as variable speed low temperature screw compressors.
