TÜV certified K65 brazing fittings for high-pressure CO2 systems by Conex | Bänninger

Climate-friendly refrigerant CO2, which is becoming increasingly popular in commercial refrigeration, requires components and fittings approved for operating pressures of up to 120 bar. Since 2011 the IBP Group has manufactured specially designed K65 fittings under the Conex | Bänninger brand. Made of high-strength copper alloy, the product line includes bends, tees, reducing nipples, couplings and caps, ideal for use in high-pressure pipeline systems using K65 tubes. Together, t

In collaboration with Wieland, Conex | Bänninger  has developed copper alloy K65 fittings made of CuFe2P. The high-strength K65 is lightweight and ideal for high-pressure pipelines that use CO2 as the refrigerant. The tubes and fittings cover supermarket applications such as compressor racks.

K65 fittings brazed to K65 tubes benefit from joint system guarantee

The K65 system is the only combination of tubes (Wieland) and fittings (Conex | Bänninger) that falls under a joint system guarantee for CO2 applications up to 120 bar and are marked for clear identification.

K56 has excellent processing properties similar to those of copper. In addition, the material is slightly magnetic and can easily be distinguished from copper by means of a neodymium magnet.

Types of K65 fittings available:

  • K65 bends 45°
  • K65 bends 90°
  • K65 tee
  • K65 reducing nipple
  • K65 couplings
  • K65 caps

Main features and advantages of the K65 tubes and fittings

The main advantage is the mechanical strength of K65. Because of the high strength of the material, the K65 product series for 120 bar can be made with comparatively thin walls. The light weight of pipelines made of K65 means not only a significant saving in material, but also easier handling, for example when mounting the tubes on ceilings.

K65 fitting and tubes also have the following advantages:

  • TÜV certified
  • K65 not subject to any restrictions as concerns brazing alloy
  • Insensitive to stress corrosion cracking
  • High resistance to natural atmosphere
  • Maximum working pressure 120 bar at operating temperature of 150°C
  • Dimensional tolerances EN 12735-1
