Manufacturer of semi-finished and specialty products in copper and copper alloys, Wieland-Werke AG, has joined R744.com as a Bronze Partner. Amongst the company’s impressive product offering and wide application span, are tube systems for CO2 commercial and industrial refrigeration, approved for high operating pressures of up to 120 bar.

Wieland K65 tubes are characterised by the high performance heat-transfer properties of copper and are TÜV certified under operating pressures of 120 bar. The company’s range of tubes include plain, inner-grooved and/or outer finned tubes, as well as heat exchangers.

Products for CO2:

  • K65 tube and fitting systems for commercial applications: high-strength copper alloy designed for high pressure pipelines systems for CO2 (R744) with operating pressures up to 120 bar and temperatures up to 150°C. The main advantage compared to stainless steel tubes is the possibility to easily connect the tubes by hard brazing.

  • K65 tubes for industrial applications: high-strength copper alloy with thermal conductivity superior to stainless steel or aluminum. Particularly well suited for as a heat exchanger tube due to its efficient processing properties. Designed for CO2 (R744) and resulting higher-pressure operations.

Steffen Rieger, Manager Technical Marketing Industrial Tubes commented,
We observe an increasing interest for the use of CO2 technology in refrigeration. Since the platform R744.com is the leading reference for our target groups such as development engineers, planners of cooling devices, installers and system providers, it is for us the ideal platform to promote our K65 tubes as a solution for high pressure applications – a standard component, easy to process and easy to access through refrigeration wholesale.”

Recognised for outstanding achievement

Wieland-Werke AG has been presented with the Best Professional Supplier-Award 2013 in the ‘materials and semi-finished products’ category. This award was honored by the journal ZulieferMarkt, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers AG and the Hanover Fair; the event’s patron being the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The jury evaluated over 50 applicants according to operational excellence, business model, sustainability, quality and economic efficiency.

From refrigeration to “electromobility”

Wieland materials are used in a variety of everyday products, from refrigeration units for cold stores and air conditioning, to pipes for drinking water and heating; door locks for the construction industry, and slide bearings for engines in the automotive field. Wieland manufactures over 100 different copper components for applications in the electrical and electronic industry. The company is also active in "electromobility”, designing and manufacturing custom-made system components for electric and hybrid automotive powertrains.
