Danfoss’ new solution for a NH3/ CO2 cascade system for a Chinese local logistic company reduced the company’s annual electricity consumption by 10%. The comprehensive refrigeration solution package provides the end user with a safe and fully automated control system.

Danfoss has provided many Chinese local companies with advanced industrial refrigeration solutions to reduce their energy consumption and ensure smooth operation of their refrigeration facilities. Among these applications, the cooling solution Danfoss offered to Yantai Feng Run Logistic Company in its processing and storage of canned fruit has helped the company reduce annual electricity usage for refrigeration by around 10%.

In China, Danfoss has held two series of a “CO2 road show” in 15 cities in late 2011 and early 2012 to popularise knowledge about CO2 refrigeration technology and promote the use of CO2 refrigerant.

Mr. Yan Lixin, Danfoss’s sales manager in China said: “I can clearly see that CO2 solutions will have a good future in China refrigeration related industries, and we Danfoss will contribute more to this field with info sharing, project instruction, system guidance and product supply.”

Safer environment for cold storage and food production

In order to ensure a smooth operation and simplify the maintenance and service of the system, Danfoss offered the NH3/CO2 cascade system with a comprehensive solution package including Danfoss flagship valves and controls to operate demanding high pressure and low temperature conditions. For food processing and storage, the solution package provides an ideal safe environment. Danfoss’s 52 bar valves also simplify the maintenance and service of the system.

Fully automated engine room

In addition, the precise liquid level control solution Danfoss designed to guarantee a good stability for the system also helps the end user to have a “fully automated engine room”.

Danfoss’s liquid level sensor AKS 4100(U) has been applied in this system as well. This technology allows a precise and reliable liquid level reading by the new TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology which in turn enables the system to control the opening of the Danfoss ICM motorised valve to enlarge the setting range of the capacity. Danfoss ICM series motorised valve is used to control the defrost process from hot gas supply and suction line pressure equalization once the sequence is terminated.
