A leading developer of CO2 (R744) technology components, OBRIST Engineering GmbH, presents its latest compressor - the C99. It features better performance in a more simple and compact design.
The new variable displacement compressor, named C99, launched by OBRIST in cooperation with partners from the automotive industry, is using the so-called swash ring technology.
Features
Key advantages of the C99 compressor by OBRIST compared to conventional swash plate compressors are:
Reduced number of parts
Weight and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) improvements
Lowest shaft unbalance
Very low hysteresis controlling mechanism
Integrated oil management for reduced Oil Circulation Rate (OCR)
Reactions
According to Frank Wolf, OBRISTs Vice-President, the new compressor is sized for cooling capacity requirements of up to 17kW and "can help Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to achieve better performance of R744 systems in a cost-effective way."
"Sharing our component developments on www.R744.com is the best way to show that the industry is ready to switch to more environmentally friendly and efficient systems for mobile air conditioning. Such a portal is a key initiative to foster innovation and excellence in R744 Technology systems," he concluded.
Background
OBRIST Engineering GmbH has worked on the C99 compressor for several years. As a result, the compressor has proved to feature a reliable performance under several conditions, relying on extended testing with successful results.
