Partnering with German compressor manufacturer GEA Refrigeration Technologies, Nihon's prototype unit includes GEA Bock's CO2 semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors. The prototype unit is a booster system consisting of transcritical and subcritical compressors. One unit can cool down both medium temperature and low temperature domestic cabinets whilst creating hot water by way of a heat recovery function. The first supermarket installation is planned for 2014.
