Pioneering User of NH3/CO2 Installs It Again at Japanese Facility

Tokyo-based Nissui Logistics Corporation, the first company to test Mayekawa's NewTon NH_3/CO₂ system in Japan in 2008, is once again employing the system at a new, second building at its Osaka-Maishima Logistics Center, located in Osaka, Japan.

The new building opened March 26, Nissui Logistics said in a statement. The site’s adjacent, original building, which opened in April 2016, also uses the NewTon.

Osaka-Maishima Logistics Center serves as the storage and distribution base for imported food and seafood products. "With the increase in cargo coming into Hanshin Port (where the center is located) in recent years, storage space was getting tight," the statement said.

The five-story facility has a total floor area of about 16,338m² (175,860ft²). With the expansion, it is now the largest of the company's 17 distribution centers in Japan.

Founded in April 2007, Nissui Logistics is the distribution subsidiary of Japan's Nippon Suisan Kaisha (also known as Nissui Group), a multinational conglomerate of seafood products as well as chemical and logistics businesses.
