Valeo, a French automotive supplier, has picked up an innovation award for its CO2 transcritical mobile air-conditioning system at Automechanika 2018 in Frankfurt.
The winners of the Automechanika Innovation Awards 2018.
Recognising the potential of CO2 mobile air-conditioning (MAC) technology, Automechanika (11-15 September 2018) has presented French manufacturer Valeo with an Innovation Award in the category OE (Original Equipment) Products & Services.
Automechanika, the world’s largest trade fair for the automotive aftermarket sector, takes place every two years in Frankfurt, Germany.
The award-winning CO2-based air-conditioning loop system, launched in June 2017, operates without any chemical refrigerant. It is for passenger vehicles.
This is not the first time Valeo has received an award for its CO2 MAC products. In April 2018, the auto trade news website Automotive News praised another CO2 MAC system by Valeo, which can be used as a heat pump and air conditioner in electric vehicles (read more here).
In total, awards were given out in ten different categories. “The density of innovations at Automechanika is incomparable,” argued event director Olaf Musshoff. “The Automechanika Innovation Awards are a valuable orientation aid for tomorrow’s trends in the sector,” he said.
The jury was composed of eight members, representing different companies and associations from the German automotive industry. Sustainability and contribution to environmental protection were important judging criteria.
