Dorin is taking orders for the world’s largest CO2 compressors. The Italian manufacturer will showcase two new CO2 compressor series at next week’s Chillventa tradeshow in Nürnberg.

“During the last year, several OEMs have strongly inquired for larger CO2 compressor capacities than the ones actually available,” said Giovanni Dorin, the company’s marketing director.

In the CD400 range, Dorin is launching the 4-cylinder CD5200M model, featuring a displacement of 35.2 m3/h at 50 Hz.

The company is launching three series in the CD500 range:

  • CD6 500-40B, CD6 600-40M, CD6 700-40H: 6-cylinder compressors with a nominal power of 50-70hp, featuring a displacement of 39.8 m3/h at 50 Hz.
  • CD6 500-45B, CD6 700-45M, CD6 800-45H: 6-cylinder compressors with a nominal power of 50-80hp, featuring a displacement of 45.3 m3/h at 50 Hz.
  • CD6 500-53B, CD6 800-53M: 6-cylinder compressors with a nominal power of 50-80hp, featuring a displacement of 53.2 m3/h at 50 Hz.

“These displacements generate the largest refrigeration capacities available nowadays: in typical medium temperature conditions (-8 degrees Celsius evaporating temperature / 90 bar high pressure / 35 degrees Celsius gas cooler output / 50 Hz), an array of duties varying between 85 kW (CD5200M) and 125 kW (CD6 800-59M) are now available with a single compressor configuration,” Dorin said.

All the new compressor models boast ultra-low pressure pulses and noise levels, smooth operation, frequency drive capability, and advanced oil pump lubrication.

“As a matter of fact, the EU F-Gas Regulation and several safety drawbacks induced by the use of NH3 have led the industrial refrigeration sector to focus on CO2 as the most viable alternative also for large refrigeration duties,” Dorin said.

The company hopes the new compressors will make large refrigeration racks more affordable to a wider customer base. It is targeting food processing plants, large warehouses and other industrial customers.

Chillventa is the world’s largest and most important tradeshow for natural refrigerant technologies. Held biannually, this year’s edition will take place in the German city of Nürnberg on 11-13 October.
