The leading provider of gas analysis and measurement products, INFICON, has added its refrigerant leak detector to R744.com’s product database. Able to find R744 leaks in the production of mobile and stationary CO2 systems, INFICON’s detector significantly reduces false alarms and the cost of ownership.

INFICON’s HLD5000 Leak Detector for CO2 finds leaks quickly and easily in the production of CO2 Mobile Air Conditioning, Commercial Refrigeration and Heat Pump systems. The long-life IR sensor can effectively cancel background contaminants that could lead to false alarms, including water, alcohol, cleaning solution, perfume, or cigarette smoke. Through its innovative dual-inlet sampling system, the concentration of CO2 is constantly compared to the concentration in the surrounding atmosphere to eliminate false alarms due to background levels of CO2. Finding leaks in less time with less uncertainty results in higher product quality and significantly reduced time otherwise wasted on finding non-existent leaks.

Moreover, the HLD5000 Leak Detector for CO2 is easy to use while providing convenient and trouble-free operation in the manufacturing environment. All programming, namely the precise alpha-numerical entry of set-up and testing parameters, is done via the “soft keys” on the front panel display. Extensive self-monitoring features incorporated in its design enable the HLD5000 to immediately detect any malfunction of the unit and issue a warning to the operator. Overall, INFICON’s leak detector leads to low cost of ownership through automatic standby reducing mechanical wear and the needless intake of contaminants, as well as robust sensors, sniffer probes and pumps. The HLD5000 version for halogenated gases is well-established in the market with more than 3,000 leak detectors installed at RAC and automotive customers world-wide. The HLD5000 model for CO2 has been successfully installed at automotive and heat pump customers already.

“INFICON always strives to be on the leading edge of what customers need. We are proud to have been the first to offer a leak detector dedicated to CO2 to the worldwide market,” says Sandra Seitz, Product Manager at INFICON.
