SWEP, a leading supplier of brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) and related products and services, is adding the brand new B9 to the R744.com database. The single-wall B9, optimised for super-critical CO2 operations, is designed to operate at pressures up to 140 bar and has a capacity range up to 11 kW.

SWEP officially launched the B9 on February 14, at the HVAC Tokyo exhibition. This new highly efficient gas cooler is developed for the hot water heat pump market and features SWEP’s cutting-edge asymmetric plate technology. AsyMatrix® is a plate pattern that improves heat transfer efficiency and decreases the water pressure drop, thus ensuring a high COP and low-pressure losses.

B9 basic specifications

  • Design pressure reference side: 140 bar
  • Design pressure water side: 48 bar at 110°C
  • Minimum temperature: - 196°C
  • Maximum temperature: 225°C
  • Maximum number of plates: 50
  • Brazing material: Pure copper
  • Designed to operate at supercritical CO2 pressures, high mechanical strength
  • Higher COP
  • Lower system cost

SWEP’s brazed plate heat exchangers are approved by the following certification organisations:
  • Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) in Europe
  • Underwriters Laboratories Inc (UL) in the United States
  • Kouatsu-Gas Hoan Kyoukai (KHK) in Japan

SSP G7 software for improved services

SWEP has recently launched a new version of its SSP G7 free software, which is designed to help manufacturers select the most efficient combination of heat exchanger-connections depending on their installation.

The main new features of the software are an improved commercial refrigeration cascade module, a connection impact tool and two-stage application design.

The cascade module enables designs of brazed plate heat exchangers that are suitable for cascade CO2 systems, while the connection impact tool calculates pressure drop and the velocity caused by the chosen connection. The two-stage application covers designs of a two-stage substation, involving both the radiator and the two-stage heat exchanger.
