The scientific community and industry experts from all over the world will meet between 13 and 16 June in Sweden to discuss all possible aspects within the area of sustainable refrigeration and heat pump technology. The first day starts with 8 CO2 dedicated presentations mainly for transcritical applications. R744.com will be reporting from the event.

The conference will take place on June 13 to June 16, 2010 at the campus of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden. About 60 abstracts have been accepted for the conference on a wide range of topics, including natural refrigerants. A dedicated session on CO2 technology opens the conference.

CO2 session, Monday 14 June:

  • A.Aittomäki, Tampere University: “A simplified model of CO2‐gas cooler”
  • R. Llopis, Jaume I University: “Energy impact of the superheat associated to a semihermetic compressor in a transcritical CO2 refrigeration plant”
  • F. Beber, Stiebel Eltron: “Co‐simulation of a heat pump using R744 as refrigerant”
  • C. Zilio, University Padova: “Development of a transcritical R744 soft serve ice cream making machine”
  • D. Sánchez, Jaume I University: “Experimental evaluation of the internal heat exchanger in a transcritical CO2 refrigeration plant”
  • Chesi, University di Firenze: “Evaluation of the potential performance of a Voorhees‐ modified R744 transcritical cycle”
  • Stegou Sagia, NTU. Athens: “Exergy analysis in CO2 heat pumps”
  • P. Hrnjak, University Illinois: “Excellent refrigerant side heat transfer in CO2 condensers ‐ one of the reasons for unexpectedly good performance”
  • T. Sienel, Carrier: “Development challenges in CO2 commercial refrigeration systems”
Other interesting presentations related to CO2:
  • M. Kauffeld, HS Karlsruhe: “Keynote 5: Current trends in commercial refrigeration”
  • J. Rogstam, IUC: “Field measurements and comparison of super market refrigeration systems”
  • J. Rogstam, IUC: “Ice rinks with carbon dioxide as secondary refrigerant”
2nd IIR Workshop on Refrigerant Charge Reduction

The last day of the conference will be co-arranged with the 2nd IIR Workshop on Refrigerant Charge Reduction in Refrigerating Systems, a two-day (June 16 - 17) meeting specially focused on methods on reducing charge in refrigeration systems.
