First European training centre for Natural Refrigerants opens in the Netherlands

The new training centre is located in the city of Ede in the Netherlands and will provide practical and theoretical classes for ammonia and other natural refrigerants. As one of the main countries for development in refrigeration technology, the Netherlands is now also at the forefront for natural refrigerant technology. The new training center will be offering training regarding safety issues, the design of efficient systems as well as the specific characteristics of the refrigerant when it comes to the installation and maintenance.

Moreover, training refrigeration units will allow effective hands-on training. It is also planned that the centre provides practical training for the fire brigade, the police force or health services in order to train them on how to handle natural refrigerants.

Equipment

The installation for the training consists of:

• Various detection and security systems
• CO₂ pumping system with a cooling unit for CO₂ as evaporating refrigerant
• CO₂ compression system of -30°/-8°C with deep freezer of -30°
• NH₃/CO₂ cascade system
• NH₃/CO₂ cascade condensor with capacity of 50kW

Programme

The Dutch association of companies in refrigeration and air conditioning, NVKL, and the Association for the technological industrial employers and business, FME-CWM, will open the new centre on Wednesday, 28 April in the afternoon. The programme includes speeches from Vincent Slappendel, President NVKL and Jan Kamminga, president FME-CWM as well as a guided tour through the facilities.
